Freemind - Desktop Mind Mapping Freeware

FreeMind is a premier free mind-mapping software written in Java to create MindMapping chart. It can export the chart into JPEG or HTML format with interactive branch fold/unfold functions. It is very easy to use and comes with a lot of visually attractive icons to spike up your mind map.

Needless to say it is can be used for organising your thoughts and develop the first draft of your project plan. Since it is easy to use, it's actually a very good tool to host a brainstorming session with your team. All you need is to have a projector or large screen TV, you can add, edit and delete nodes interactively as your team make suggestions. You can fold and unfold branches so that we can guide the team to focus discussion about certain topics.

It is written in Java which means it pretty well runs on any OS with Java machine running.
