I have been in the digital media industry for decades. All through these years I have seen people wasting their time on vanity metrics (those that fool their boss or easy to justify them for their job). They spend a lot of time doing reports that look good to their boss and may be even to feel good about themselves.  But often we are missing the most important thing about how the reader feel.
